Induced psychosis leads to better public mental health outcomes
Memorandum to: Jefferson Peralez, Mayor of Night City
From: Damien Gehenna, Vice-President, Trauma Team International (TTI)
September 29, 2077
Dear Mayor Peralez,
We’ve identified a solution to Night City’s cyberpsychosis epidemic: proactively inducing psychosis for at-risk individuals so cyberpsycho attacks are predictable
The benefits of the proposed solution is two-fold:
Cost-savings: €$0.8-1.5 billion/year through reduced property damage, fewer personal injury claims, and NCPD right-sizing opportunities
Better ratings: 21%-32% popularity increase with your voter base, creating political capital for important initiatives like corporate tax cuts
Importantly, this recommendation does not require any cybernetics control laws. TTI is a strong supporter of the universal right to access cybernetics.
Overview of cyberpsychosis
Cyberpsychosis occurs when the brain’s ability to integrate cybernetics is exceeded, severing the individual’s connection to humanity. This is exacerbated by Dark Triad pathologies: narcissism, machiavellianism, and psychopathy.
Annually, cyberpsychos kill about 48,000 people. Each year, €$1.2 billion in direct costs are borne by constituents, with an estimated €$55 billion in total economic costs when factoring indirect impacts like lost productivity.
Meta-analyses of longitudinal studies show a simple formula driving the cyberpsychosis epidemic:
Access to military-grade cybernetics + de-humanizing, soul-crushing hyper-capitalism + unpredictable nature of psychotic triggers = Cyberpsychosis
Our recommendation
Obviously, the main driver in cyberpsychosis is the unpredictable nature of trigger events that cause a break in reality for cyberpsychos.
Based on initial experiments, frequent, pre-emptively induced cyberpsychosis (FPIC) in a clinical setting would make cyberpsycho incidents predictable and most importantly, fully manageable with no negative externalities.
By inducing cyberpsychosis repeatedly, we “inoculate” their psyche in a similar way that vaccines work. Conducted in a clinical setting, we are able to efficiently and effectively deal with any people who become cyberpsychos.
For those who claw back sanity from the induced cyberpsychosis, they are free to leave until their next weekly FPIC session. Those who cannot recover are humanely neutralized on-site.
These are the 2 simple steps in implementing this solution:
Registry and Monitoring: document and track every Night City resident with cybernetics exceeding 20% of organic body weight (the “at-risk population”)
Mandatory FPIC Sessions: weekly FPIC sessions at any Trauma Team International clinics.
Note: FPIC is not covered by insurance
Cyberpsychosis will be induced using a modified version of Arasak’s Soulkiller programme, with early clinical trials we have conducted on TTI employees showing material success. Only 24% of test subjects experienced irrecoverable psychosis and were subsequently iced.
Proposed next steps
Please confirm approval by end of week.
We are prepared to begin pilot programs immediately.
If implemented, it would represent a new paradigm in public-private partnerships, creating a recurring, high-margin revenue stream that perfectly aligns our shareholders’ interests with the well-being of your constituents.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Best,
Damien Gehenna

The city could resell the cyberware and then use the proceeds to fund maxtac
The FPIC not being covered by insurance is the main issue here, those who can’t afford it would tend to be more at risk due to having less access to preventative medication. I estimate the savings from reduced cyberpsychosis incidents will outweigh the cost of FPIC anyways
