Hello!

Missing The Point is where I use my corporate brain to suck all the fun out of things I love — fictional worlds from games/books/pop-culture — by management consulting them (my real-life job).

I do this by applying structured, first-principles thinking to arrive at the dumbest possible conclusions that are perfectly rational, deeply dystopian and uncomfortably familiar.

It’s serious thinking for unserious problems.

Think “this is insane, but also…not wrong?”

I’m technically correct, maximising shareholder value and always missing the point.

What to expect from each week’s essay:

(Main thing) Serious analysis for unserious problems i.e., satire on three levels:

  1. Allegorical: Fictional worlds used as a mirror for real-world dysfunction

  2. Mimetic: Real-world logic (often corporate) used sincerely to show their absurdity

  3. Meta: The “business consultant analyzing topics” persona. Me!

(Other thing) Personal essays fueled by existential angst from my quarter-life crisis à la intermittent cries for help from my soul.

Why am I doing this?

I don’t know, why do I hate myself?
