T'was a pretty fun read. Reminds me a bit of Johnathan Swifts "A Modest Proposal". I'll say the comedic prose could use some refining, but the comedic ideas are great.
This made me laugh, thank you! Very much enjoyed it and I've subscribed. I am embarrassed to admit I didn't realise it was satire until I read the comments and was ready to question a couple of your points/assumptions haha! I'm assuming you're living in America based on the topic? Keen for more of these!
Glad you liked it! And not at all, I just started writing as a hobby so I need to work on making sure the satirical POV comes through more clearly so there is less confusion and more satire. Let me know if there's any topic you have in mind and I'll try my best to miss the point!
As a healthcare professional, this hits on a critical point. Free instant recovery completely ignores the necessity of preventative care. When there’s zero cost to a 'faint,' trainers lose the incentive to invest in long-term durability. This kind of transparency is the only way to shift the culture toward true wellness over reckless behavior. Haha this is a spot on read!
Hello! I'm from the financial administrative branch of Team Flare. I strongly believe that your fiscal :: ethical evaluation of Pokemon Health Care will contribute to the beautification of all levels of Kalos society. Despite what the international Pokemon League and local news organizations may suggest, our organization still holds strong with several generous private donors who would appreciate your views.
We can offer highly competitive compensation packages and benefits options should you choose to join Team Flare. Please allow me to extend our hand in partnership by offering the opportunity to bring your vision to fruition.
Together, we can help prove to the public that profit is not poison.
Hey M C, thank you for your message. I am definitely interested in learning more about this opportunity with Team Flare - it sounds like we share a common vision that unfettered profit-focused capitalism is the only meaningful economic system!
I will follow up offline with you to share some ideas I have on monetizing Pokemon. I know from personal experience that having wealthy private donors shape public opinion and policy is especially impactful and positive.
Not sure if this is meant as satire, but taking it at face value: the system seems to claim moral superiority by equating Pokémon life with market value. That framing feels shaky: if value is determined by price, does that imply poorer trainers’ Pokémon are inherently worth less, even if rhetorically “equal”?
The issues raised also seem more about the incentive structure of Pokémon battles than about free healthcare itself. Making healing expensive doesn’t fix those incentives; it mostly risks leaving Pokémon injured or pushing trainers into bankruptcy.
A minimum-cost or pooled model seems more consistent with the stated goals: small universal costs to discourage reckless play, cross-subsidization for major injuries, and higher contributions for repeated knockouts - without pricing care out of reach.
Appreciate the comment. This is satire, so there's no real/working solution here. Just using absurdity to caricature select elements of the current discourse on healthcare.
I ended up here via and Instagram ad, which feels oddly fitting.
Haha yeah! I'm using ads as a quick way to validate if anyone is interested in my writing (which is just a hobby!). Hope you enjoyed the essay!
Happy to be targeted by your ad! Subscribing :)
Thank you Paul. Also, welcome!
You should pursue a job in PR for United Healthcare
Thank you Ray! You killed me with that compliment
This is brilliant. Well done.
Thank you Al! Glad you enjoyed it. If there is anything you'd like to see more of, let me know and I'll try my best to miss the point!
You are my favorite ad ever. Beautifully crafted. Chefs kiss.
Thank you Jared, that means a lot!
I am all for stupid white papers :D very MUN like
Also got here via instagram ad, simple but effective!
Welcome! Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Also, special shout out to surveillance capitalism, which has democratized access to the attention economy so we could connect!

Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the feedback! Will work on sharpening the prose (I'm trying out writing as a hobby!)
So I go to MAGFest every year and there's the Pokemon Model UN. I'm pretty sure someone last year worked to make this happen in the game.
Laissez-faire capitalism is undefeated

Thanks for missing the point with me! :P
The healthcare is so good in Pokémon you never have to be in a line while playing
That is funny! Do you think Pokémon cards are purely nostalgic, or do they deserve to be taken seriously as investments? https://thepokemonobserver.substack.com/p/pokemon-cards-nostalgic-joy-or-serious?r=6zto8q
